Dickinson College Partners with Jadu for "Single Experience Student Platform"

By Megan Johnson on May 22, 2015

Imagine that if instead of logging into different systems at your school to access your important information you could log into a single access point: this must be what Dickinson College had in mind when they decided to partner with Jadu, Inc.

According to a recent press release, Dickinson College and Jadu, Inc., have partnered to implement a single online experience for students and staff.

A web and mobile experience management vendor, Jadu, Inc. collaborated with Dickinson and consolidated portal and CMS system into a ‘single campus engagement platform’: Jadu’s Content Portal.

A project based on “opportunity” and “integration,” Dickinson consolidated Campus Portal and Web Content Management requirements into a single web platform from Chicago-based Jadu, Inc; this platform integrates with the college’s student information system (Banner by Ellucian) for student and employee authentication and identification.

“Given the strategic value of Dickinson College’s web presence we looked not just for a product, but for a long term relationship with a dynamic and responsive company,” Robert Renaud, Vice President and CIO at Dickinson College, said. “Jadu’s vision and spirit of teamwork align perfectly with our ambitions.”

Home to 2,400 students from across the nation and around the world, Dickinson is a highly selective college that is a nationally recognized liberal-arts institution dedicated to global education and the study of environment and sustainability. These ideals are integrated into the curriculum and the campus, exemplifying the college’s commitment to providing students with the skills relevant to 21st century careers.

The platform replaced Dickinson’s previous CMN and legacy portal with a system available on any mobile, tablet or desktop device that gives students and staff a single point of entry for locating important info and functions vital to the operation of Dickinson and its day-to-day business transactions.

This integration with the college’s CAS authentication services provides personalization, which gives students and staff access to real-time info on courses, academic resources and other college-related content specific to an individual user’s needs.

“What Jadu Content Portal represents is an opportunity for every College and University that uses an enterprise portal and web CMS to consolidate on a single platform for student/prospective student, parent, teacher and alumni engagement on any device,” Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu said in the release. “What the teams at Dickinson have delivered is quite simply, beautiful.”

The content in the new website portal is personalized based on roles and profiles that exist in the college’s student information system. Jadu Content Portal can also co-exist with an institution’s existing Web CMS system by leveraging designed templates; the portal can be integrated with the college’s enterprise systems, including Student Information Systems (SIS), Document Imaging Systems (ECM) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Looking ahead, Dickinson is beginning ‘phase 2,’ which will be an implementation of the Online Forms capability of the Jadu Content Portal, which will significantly advance how Dickinson delivers online services, especially during times of high-volume activity (like first-year orientation, student organization registration, etc).
