The Ultimate Senior Bucket List for You and Your Roommate

By Tamiera Vandegrift on March 24, 2017

Congratulations! You did it! Your roommate and you have graduated from college. You survived the ginormous and challenging milestone known as college and gained a worthwhile education.

No matter what you studied, what you drank, or what crazy mistakes you might have made (hello, 3 a.m. Taco Bell trips), it does not matter anymore. You have graduated! With such a huge accomplishment just on the horizon, you have got to find a way to celebrate and what better way to go out with a bang than with the person who shared this journey with you: your roommate!

Your roommate has seen the best of you (color coded planners and organization) and the worst of you (drunkenly crying over a container of Oreo cookies) and she remained your friend anyway! This time is going to fly by fast, so you need to have a plan to celebrate these four years of your life before you walk the stage and say goodbye.

Read on to learn how to leave college with a bang. Here is your graduation bucket list of adventures for you and your roommate to experience! Have a magical time and from the bottom of my heart, good luck to you and all of your future career endeavors!

Explore your college town

I can guarantee you that there are a ton of hidden gems in your college town that you have not yet experienced, and how could you have? With the busy-ness and stress of the college experience, when would you have time to do something so adventurous? If you have, good for you! Move on to the next thing in the list.

If you have not, it is not too late! There are many parts to any college town. Visit the artsy side of town where all the hipsters hang out. Take your roommate on a stroll through the city side of your college town. If there is a theme park nearby that you have not been to yet, go to the park with your roommate!

For instance, the University of Central Florida is located smack dab in the middle of Orlando, a hot spot for tourists. Whatever you decide to do, your college town will be a must-do before you say goodbye to it for good!

Take a spontaneous road trip

Embrace your inner spontaneous side and hit the road with your roommate. Pick up only the essentials (hygiene products, food, clothes, etc.) and live like vagabonds for a while! Drive to the next closest city, and if you are feeling brave enough, cross state lines and see what is on the other side of the border.

There are plenty of adventures to be had and your roommate and you should be the great pioneers of the unknown (at least in your minds).

Go bar hopping!

Assuming you are at least 21, it is time to celebrate in a way that most college students (over the age of 21) know how to! That means partying hard and begging your liver for forgiveness the next day! Take your roommate and your friends around town and make sure to hit up as many bars and clubs as you can.

Remember to be safe, though! Do not leave your drinks unattended and if something or someone seems fishy, leave immediately. While it is important to have fun, your safety is the first priority.

Visit with your favorite professor(s)

We all have that one professor, or series of professors, that had a huge part in shaping your life and your mindset. Encourage your roommate to meet with their favorite professors and thank them for everything that they have done for you. Be sure to do the same thing yourself. Professors love to know the effect and impression that they have left on their students. A professor’s touch on a student’s mind is a fingerprint that never vanishes; let them know just how important their touch and wisdom was to you.

Try a restaurant you haven’t tried yet!

Escape from your comfort zone for just a while and take your roommate on a culinary adventure. Try different restaurants from all across town. Remember that Thai restaurant that you passed several times on your way to your apartment? Stop there for lunch or dinner one day! Remember that billboard showing the location of the “best ice cream in town”? Go and try it out!

As I mentioned earlier, there are so many little hidden gems to be found throughout your college town. As a student and temporary resident, it is your responsibility to find them and experience their glory.

Take pictures of your dorm

Finally, the one place where your roommate and you have definitely shared the most memories: your dorm or your apartment. Commemorate your experience by taking a ton of pictures of your last collegiate living space, whether it is a dorm or an apartment. Take silly pictures, serious pictures, and more. Do not let this time go by without celebrating it! After all, you only experience college for the first time once! Make the most of it.
