Developments in the Jodi Arias Case
For those of you following the Jodi Arias murder trial, the past few days have been filled with information. Arias has spent five days on the stand being questioned by the defense. In the questioning, new and unexpected evidence has been discovered. The idea of sexual and physical abuse is one that Arias is using to support her plea of self-defense, but the evidence is not in her favor. Though the prosecution hasn’t had his time to cross examine her just yet, there are certainly a few questions that will be brought up. First, from the beginning of the trial, Arias’s believability has been questionable to say the least. When she was arrested in 2008, she told investigators not only that she was innocent, but that there was no way she could ever kill her ex, Travis Alexander. Now her story is that she had no choice but to kill the man, to save her own life.
The next thing working against Arias in this case is the massive amount of that their relationship was mutually sexual, including naked pictures of her at his house the day he was killed. Arias has described in detail their sexual relationship in her five days on the stand, and is continuing to paint herself as the victim in the situation, saying that she was forced to participate in the conduct out of fear. When she was asked why she continued to go back to Alexander, she explained how low her self-esteem was at the time. Even saying that she considered killing herself multiple times and, in fact, on the day in question, she says she planned to kill herself as well. Though some very interesting evidence and testimony have been given by Arias, one thing is for sure, the cross examination will be vicious and much more will unravel in this web of a case.
