What Seminoles Can Expect Post Bye Week

By Kylie Exline on September 24, 2015

We have been reacquainted with College football for just 3 games and already fans have to survive a bye week. Though the Seminoles are 3-0 this season, we are still acclimating to life post Jameis with starting quarterback Everett Golson. From what we have seen, there is no question as to whether we can still play the game under Coach Jimbo Fisher. The question is however, will we be able to consistently win the games?

There is no doubt that our team is equipped with athletic, smart, and strong players. Potential has been met with running back Dalvin Cook, placekicker Roberto Aguayo, and of course starting quarterback Everett Golson. Heading into bye week is crucial to not only fixing past errors from previous games, but looking at how to make progress in order to be in the position to win another championship.

After playing last game away against Boston College, it is safe to say it was not what most Seminole fans were used to seeing. It was apparent that our offense struggled, and most were shocked after Aguayo missed a 42-yard field goal that would have put the Noles up 17-0 when time-clocks read “final.” If following the AP polls released every week, you are aware that we sit uncomfortably at rank number 10, obtaining hopes that we will somehow be competitive with number 1 reigning defenders Ohio State; and of course take our spot back as National Champions.

Florida State comes back Saturday October 3 away against Wake Forest, whose record is currently 2-1. Our next home game is not until the 10th, where we will be hosting Florida rivals, the Miami Hurricanes, who we only beat 30-26 last year. Many may think it is too early to be worrying about ACC standings, but if concerned about the Seminoles future, this bye week sure came at an opportune moment.

We can hope that this week off allows our offense to become more complacent with newer players, maintain consciousness of play-making, and that our defenders do their job again at stopping our opponents from scoring identical to B.C. Being only 3 games into the season, there is a lot of time left to recognize issues on (and hopefully not off) of the field, as well as perfecting our offense, defense, and as always, our coaching staff.
