If you’re in your last semester, or even your last year of college, there probably isn’t a shortage of academic things to do on your career list. Have you given any thought to what you might want on your bucket list? College is a rare time to take opportunities and explore before jumping into the “real world.” Even if you’re nearing the end, you should make time to do some fun college things before walking across that stage on graduation day.

Here are five things to put on your college bucket list.

1. Take a fun elective class

In college, it’s easy to get too focused on graduation. This is especially true when you’re nearing the end of your college career. However, remember that college is supposed to be fun and that it isn’t necessarily all work and no play. Your final semesters will probably be filled with high level and high-intensity major-specific classes.

I think it’s a good idea to break up all this pressure by taking an elective course in something you’re interested in outside your major. It could be anything from a music class to yoga or even a history of film! Throwing in a class that is more about fun and less about work can really save your mind from overexertion. Plus, you may even discover a new interest that can inspire you beyond your college years!

2. Go to a school sporting event

Sporting events may be a regular occurrence for you, but for many students, they forget about the recreational side of university completely. If anything, they may loathe university sports for taking their precious parking spots. However, even if you aren’t a sports person, the atmosphere of a university sporting event is unlike any other. It’s amazing to witness the community created by a single sporting event.

Of course, sporting events exist beyond the collegiate level. However, the bond that many fans have with their school’s team creates a group experience unlike any other. Of course, you also have a good reason to cheer on your school already!

3. Try a different student activity/club

If it’s your last year or semester, you may be hesitant to start anything completely new. However, I would urge you to take a chance on something you wouldn’t have tried before. I’d recommend going to a meeting or event held by a student group you might not have been drawn to immediately. It’s never too late to meet people who have different lives than you. You can usually learn a lot from them and might even find more in common than you think.

Because most universities have so many student groups and organizations, there’s always some sort of student activity going on. If you don’t have time to fully join an organization, just attend an event that seems new and interesting to you. Talk to the people around you and don’t be afraid to get involved!

4. Take a trip with your friends

It isn’t always easy to save money as a college student which means it usually isn’t easy to travel very much either. When you get invested in your education, it can become difficult to take days off for fun. You may feel guilty for not being productive and for spending money.  Keep in mind that the rest of your college days will go by quicker than you realize and you don’t want to miss any opportunities to spend time with the friends you made.

Nothing is more exciting than traveling with the people you like best. It could be a tropical adventure or just a drive to the neighboring town. Whatever you decide to do, just remember to enjoy the company of those around you.

5. Explore your career options

As a soon-to-be graduate, it’s likely that you’ve already considered your future options. You may have something already set up, but in case you don’t, remember to be creative and take advantage of your university’s career center. Many people think that they’re limited to their major of studies, but you may be surprised at the number of options you really have. Take the time before you graduate to talk to a career adviser as well as your professors and peers about what kinds of jobs you may want to pursue. Now is the time to really explore the options you have before settling down into one.

While this isn’t true for everyone, for many, college is the best time of their life. It’s the time where you get to live with the freedom of an adult without quite so many responsibilities. Remember that your university offers many, many things for you as a student and that you should enjoy them! Enjoy your time as a college student, even if there’s just a month left!
