Why the William Johnston Building Should be Your Friend

By Steven T. Brown on July 22, 2012

The newly remodeled William Johnston Building (WJB) across from Landis green may just be the new place to be on campus, possibly overturning Strozier Library. There are many things about the WBJ that could directly benefit your time here at FSU.

The Ace Tutoring Center
As much as you may hate tutoring, we all will likely need it at some point during our college career. The new center located in WJB ground floor is a great location. There are people in there to help on basically any subject matter. The environment is not as crazy as it used to be in Strozier. So, anytime you think you need some help with something, WJB has you covered with its Ace Tutoring; just set up an appointment.

WJB Study Rooms
In Strozier, study rooms can sometimes be hard to come by on days that are busy. Since not quite as many people flood WJB as of yet, it is a great time to take advantage of one of their great study rooms or smart rooms that they have to offer. They all give off a modern and contemporary feel that almost prompt learning and thinking. So if you have a group of people, or just you and a friend, one of these study rooms may just be the answer for you to get out of your normal environment into somewhere different to carry on your thinking.

The Digital Studio
FSU has two digital studios, one in the Williams building and one in WJB. This is a great resource because the digital studio has knowledgeable people willing and able to help you one on one with almost any kind of multimedia project, portfolio, or anything else you can think of. They may even have programs on their computers that you don’t have access to on your own. Going there for an assignment truly can save you time and money with the help and resources that they provide. You can either set up an appointment or walk in.

The William Johnston Buildingis a great resource for all FSU students outside of the possibly mundane realm of the FSU libraries. There is plenty of space and the environment is fresh and different from what you may think. Freshman or senior, I encourage everyone to go check it out.
